A wall repair is a little harder than making a hole in a plaster wall in the first place but we are experts in repairing plaster walls and ceilings and we guarantee that when the wall is repaired and painted you would never know there was a hole there in the the first place.
Fixing a hole in the wall requires certain steps for the best results. The hole needs to be squared up and any torn or cracked plasterboard will also need to be cut out so you are left with a clean and solid area around the hole which can then be repaired with new plasterboard which is cut to size and inserted into the hole.
Because there is a void behind the wall – we install battens across the hole with plasterboard screws ensuring that all edges are attached to the existing plasterboard wall (or ceiling) and then the patch is screwed to the battens.
The next step is we apply cornice adhesive plaster around the edges and press paper plasterers tape around the patch with a light covering of plaster over the tape. We then force dry the plaster with a heat gun, scrape off any high areas and then apply a layer of pre-mix plaster to blend. This is then force dried again and sanded ready for paint. In some instances more plaster layers will need to be applied.
The final step is that the repair is sealed with a plasterboard sealer, force dried again and then painted with one or more coats of the colour matched wall or ceiling paint. Job done. This process takes between 2 to 3 hours depending on the size of the hole and other factors. Cost ranges from $150.00 upwards depending on the size of the repair and if colour matching and paint is required.
